Invite your MP to attend our Parliamentary drop-in!

The 16 Days of Activism global campaign launches every year on 25th November, International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, to 10th December, Human Rights Day, calls for an end to violence against women and girls (VAWG).

This year, we are asking you to amplify our calls for domestic abuse to be treated as the national emergency it is. If you’re a woman, you’re over three times more likely to be killed by your partner than from not wearing your seatbelt. We all know to wear a seatbelt, but there is a bigger threat that is not being spoken about. A national emergency that we are ignoring.

As part of Women’s Aid’s campaign for for 16 Days, we are hosting a Parliamentary event with MPs to raise their awareness about the national emergency of domestic abuse and seek their support for our calls.

Please use our template email for you to share with your local MP encouraging them to support Women’s Aid’s 16 Days of Activism campaign by attending our Parliamentary drop-in event.

At the drop-in event and across our 16 days campaign, Women’s Aid will be highlighting to policymakers the urgent need to support specialist domestic abuse services. At the drop-in, we are focusing on gathering support for what we want to see in the Government's upcoming Tackling Violence Against Women and Girls Strategy, which we hope will set out how the Government’s will deliver on their manifesto commitment to halve VAWG in a decade.
